Hello everyone,
Lately, I have been working with the iPhone X S. I favor the TW Recorder for capturing sounds. I record a lot of audio for my podcast, mostly spoken dialogue. I have a lot of variety with regard to how sounds come out. I have this idea that sounds sometimes come out a bit "stuffy" and I don't know why.
I noticed that there is a microphone on the top of the iPhone (you can't really see it) and also on the bottom (there are several holes). I usually record in my car with windows closed and I have the iPhone on the steering column.
Would anyone who records with the iPhone have a couple of tips/tricks for improving my sound (less stuffy?) I know I've gotten decent sound out of it sometimes, and other times not. I know it is not a high tech device for sound recording, but want to squeeze the best out of it each time I can, and I figure education is the first step.
Thanks!
Zatar
There are actually two microphones in the iPhone. One high quality one that's used while recording videos and one lower quality one thats used for voice calls. I know this because I can't use Whatsapp audio calls because the better microphone is broken on mine, but I can still talk on the cellular phone.
First of all you need to use a recording app that utilises the good microphone. I use "Recorder Plus" (although I can't use it without the plug-in condenser microphone I have).
Other than that, there's not much else you can do apart from making sure the microphone port is clean and free of dirt/debris.
My suggestion is to buy a cheap plug-in microphone and use Recorder Plus (there's a free version I believe) if you're strapped for cash.
