I'm amazed that when I searched for Ambio in the forums here, I found nothing. I'm an up-till-now silent and long-time user of both Freesound and the Ambio app, which is no longer updated, and I fear that pretty soon I'm going to be desperate for a replacement. I hope someone here can help or point me in the right direction.
Can you help?
So what this app, Ambio, does, is that it allows someone completely unfamiliar with sound mixing (is that the right phrase?) to create custom sonic atmospheres. These are generally eons better than any apps offering prerecorded mixed loops. Example: right now I'm listening to "my garden". I have a base recording of a garden in the wind with sweet wind chimes, and it's layered with beautiful birdsong from a single thrush in a forest, a light wind in the background, a random atmospheric tone, and, just this morning, light raindrops (since it's very foggy here!) I can turn the raindrops on and off, or vary the volume of each sound and how frequently it loops in my mix. The garden and the thrush come from Freesounds, and the raindrops, wind, and random tone come with the app.
I'm looking for a replacement app I can download to my phone, to plug in to earphones. It can layer and mix all these sounds like I've described above, both included and custom sounds. It must be rare, since I've had trouble finding it anywhere, but because Ambio did it at one point I know it's possible. For various personal reasons this app has become vital to my mental health! And I'm not a coder or someone with the resources to create this myself. As more and more apps on my old phone go obsolete, I know I have an unknown limited time to figure this out.
Has anyone here heard of any other currently-updated app like this one? Or do you know of another solution that could work and basically do the same thing?
Thank you!

Hi Rodulf,
Thanks so much for your reply. I will need to do some homework figuring out DAW and Reaper to see if those are options for me.
I love that you can use your technique for making meditational tracks. I'm wondering where I will need to compromise, or if I can avoid compromise, because the thing that's different about Ambio in this instance is that I can add and subtract specific sounds to a mix. I can, for example, turn on or turn up white noise in a nature mix, if someone outside is fighting or blasting their bass while I'm trying to meditate or think. I can keep the rest of the mix unaltered so I can listen to the more realistic mix without white noise when my environment is more peaceful.
Sorry for my delay, but I'm definitely still interested in this. I just hadn't seen a response for a while so I'd kind of given up on talking about it here. But it's nice to see your reply & idea- thank you!

Sounds from Freesound have often been used in mixes published on https://www.ambient-mixer.com/
As you play a mix in your browser, you have mixer controls for each track just as you said about Ambio.
I've just checked it again, and there's a mobile version for both Android and iOS, it might suit your needs: https://www.ambient-mixer.com/mobile-download
