I can't afford a mac. So I'm gonna just buy a new pc, my question is what would be the best processor, sound card, video card, any kind of specs that you can recommend would be great. Amount of RAM is another one. i have an external hard drive now, some RAM maybe 1gb plus, but i think my pc is too old to handle the performance. i plan on using Cubase.
thanks for any help!

No pc is too old! (even oldies control MIDI!) But,
If you don't want a mac then a Sony Vaio would be a good buy, or even a budget Acer that supports 4G SoDimm probably a built in Nvidia Card (not like the desktop beasts but still a nice video card) The video card will handle most of cubase's menu ram matters a little but its your GPU the most, Also if you load windows you can use readyboost and give yourself an extra 4 gigs of virtual cache memory, And then disable hibernate, set your cache paging file size, and set your pc to use more RAM for foreground programs, I used a DELL Inspiron for a while with 2 G of ram max and an intel core duo 2.4 (a ittle slow but settings matter alot). Just make sure you can use the pc like it's nicely handled, and stuff.... you should be okay,
