Hey there,
I wanted to share and discuss something here with you. I wrote down some thoughts and built a rough prototype of an idea around field recording and geo-tagging. This is heavily inspired by "soundmaps" such as the one here at freesound, that's why I consider this posting "on topic"
The idea was also triggered by the capability of the FiRe (by Audiofile Engineering) Field Recording iPhone application, which lets you save geo tags with your recordings (apparently you can't actually use the data yet, but it's a first step). With FiRe, you can also save markers, either manually or every N seconds. So I was thinking: wouldn't it be a great addition to field recordings with shifting if geo location data would be saved with every marker that is being created over time?

What do you think? Are there any examples like this out there?
Best,
Christophe
Hey Microscopia,
thanks a lot for getting back on this, very stimulating! I need to think and explore on this a bit more – my first approach was just a rough idea, not really thought through. I'll get back on this sometime later.
All the best,
Christophe
