A friend of mine told me about Freesound and I'm totally blown-away. I joined tonight and made my first attempt to download on my brand new imac. I just made the switch from my old pc and I can't seem to figure out what to do. I was able to download two samples to my desktop that were php files. I did see some documentation about php being a problem with macs but since I'm a double newbie (freesound + mac) I'm in need of some help. TIA.
You're probably using Firefox? Apparently there's a bug in Firefox, but also apparently there are workarounds. Also see >this topic<.
Though I think best workaround is to use Safari or an other browser, like Opera.
I'm actually using Safari. I'm brand new to using a Mac (maybe I should have joined freesound sooner, lol). I really can't seem to figure out what I'm sure is very simple. Ideas?
Thanks
It's kinda funny that I just can't figure out this whole .php.html thing. I'm still looking for any possible help. I'm just about ready to give-up but would REALLY appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'm an absolute newbie to this site and to using a mac. I really need a step by step intervention. Many thanks.
I'll have to try it in Safari, will hopefully do that sometime soon.
In the meantime, could you say which samples you're trying to download?
Hi Nemo,
Thank you for your reply. Finally after a lot of trying I have figured it out. This is a great site. I really appreciate your help.
Sam
So I know he figured it out, but didn't tell how he figured it out. Heres a quick write up on downloading with a Mac using Safari.
So do a search of the file you want. This will bring up a list of sounds. Click the file name of the sound you want. This will bring you to a page that only shows the one sound, who its by, comments etc. To the right should be a "DOWNLOAD Right Click + Save As" button. As with PCs, Macs have a "right click" function. Either you have a mouse with a right click, or if you don't... holding CONTROL while clicking brings up a drop-down menu of options. Same with laptops. Click "Download linked file as"... and you will able to download the file in a .wav, .aiff or whatever file.
