First, thanks for the use of this site.
I need a disc of firework sounds to go with a painting of a firework display. I have found a sample I like, is it possible to burn a disc from it. I am using a Mac leopard. Easy words and short sentences, please.
This must have been asked a thousand times, but I am Billy-know-nuffink
Thanks

Step 1.
For an audio cd (is what you want I suppose?), the file needs to be 16 bit, 44100 kHz. To find out if the file is, find it in Finder, right-click, select 'Open with...', select Quicktime Player. When Quicktime opens, hit Applekey+i, this brings up an info window. Look if somewhere it says Structure, 16 bits, 44,100 kHz. If it does, you can skip to step 3.
Step 2.
The file is not 16 bit, 44100 kHz. To correct this, open the sound in Audacity. At the bottom left of the Audacity window, there's an option titled 'Project rate'. You can set this to 44100 now. Save the file using File > Export as WAV. Save the file at a convenient location (such as Music folder). I always have a problem typing in a filename here, it triggers all kinds of functions behind the save dialog. I simply call a sound then 'wwwww' or something, because the w-key is safe. Then in Finder, find the sound again and hit Enter so you can give it a better name.
Step 3.
I use an application called Burn for burning cds. Start it, click the Music tab. Now drag the file from Finder onto Burn. Insert a blank cd, hit the Burn button and you should be done.
You can also use iTunes to record an audio CD. Import the sounds into iTunes and put them into a playlist. Select the playlist (click on it in the left hand column) and then click the Burn Disc button (bottom right of window). In the dialog that appears, set the format to audio CD. ITunes will take care of translating formats for you.
