I see that thier are hundreds of free VST synths on the internet but when I download the files I have have trouble installing the synth. I am running off of a windows vista and every time I download certain synths it sends it as a .Dll fille. when ever it shows as a dll file It won't install properly to my computer. I can only install it as a .EXE file. Is the anyone that knows a solution or knows where I can go to try to find a solution to this problem. Thanks
sincarely, Jacob
well the .dll file (Dynamic-link library) is for the most part just one of many possible files that are needed in order to run the software if some files are missing it just will not work(the software) and sometimes all that is needed is the .dll file let me give you an example if i use ez drummer in a daw then part of ez drummer (samples, interface, updates registration/activation and so on) will proberly be located on your default system drive (often called C drive) whilst the .dll file will be placed in a plug in folder that is used in your daw so that it can link itself (the software) to the needed sounds/interface, save function edit and so on .dll is as it is described a link function so if you have downloaded a vst synth with just a .dll find that file and put it in your host daw plug in folder, a word of advice... an awfull lot of those so called free vst synths are not really worth the trouble, some indeed are, try your luck
most of all just let the music play
