Well, it`s not THAT tricky, but I was very happy to dicover for myself how to fake the sound of a fire extinguisher (hope the spelling is correct).
An actual project required this particular sound and since I don`t have a fire extinguisher I tried sprying hairspray into several tubes. well, the results were pretty disappointing. But I remered an Interview with David Lynch: he recorded an orchestra through tubes. So, I put a microphone (SM57) inside one end of a 50cm tube and held it in front of my speakers while playing a clip of some kind of white noise pretty loud. when you move the tube quickly around you`ll get a pretty good sound. Of course, if you got a real fire extinguisher, then you shpuld record that one, but if you don`t have, this is a pretty good alternative.
just simulate it by mouth and process with filters, pitch benders and pan or doppler effects - results can be better than real extinguisher - forget about eyes when recording sounds
