Alright,
My budget is between $200 - $400. I am looking for recommendations for a mic to record soprano vocals into a PC. The recording will unfortunately be done with the computer running, in a bedroom/apartment, unless there's an affordable solution with some kind of portable field recorder (since neither of us have a laptop). If not I guess I'll have to do a lot of EQ and noise removal in Audition, though maybe someone knows of something better. I'm going to see what I can do about dressing the recording space with curtains and blankets, but I've never recorded vocals before, so I'm also looking for tips to get the best sound I can.
Thanks
EDIT1:
The Audio Technica mic is sounding pretty nice, but I'm reading it's going to require a USB interface... so if anyone has recommendations on that, I'd really appreciate it.

Best,

Most vocal mic's are XLR and require phantom power and a suitable interface to the computer. The only other option is a straight out USB Mic. There are lots of options but I've only followed these mic's from a VO perspective rather than a singing perspective.
Rode make a USB mic in your price range - The Podcaster. (http://aus.rodemic.com/microphone.php?product=Podcaster)
For a USB interface I use the M-Audio MBox 2 Mini. Works a charm but if used with the supplied Pro Tools 8 LE then all output is via the MBox and NOT your computer. (The MBox is the hardware key and must be connected to run Pro Tools) However, once the correct drivers are installed (Windows only, OSX it works natively) it can be used with other recording software.
Please note that I am not a musician and just do VO and basic effects recording and editing.
Cheers
David
