Hello i'm total beginner and i need some suggestion abuot a beginner set, not too exspensive, for field recording. Reading some posts in the forum i decided to buy a zoom h4n, but i've no idea about headphones, i've thought at a ultrasone hfi 450 and for the external micrphone my choose is concentrated between the old sony ecm-ms 907, rode m3, audiotechica at8010, no idea about deadkitten.
My porphose is record city and ambient suond, i would like the spend maximun 600 eur.
please help to a best choice.

I need your youtube channel views. Nice. Keep up your resistance. But now a recorder. For several days I use a Zoom recorder H1. Very good and light device. Operates on one AA battery. I use a dead cat from wind noise. Works fine. The recorder costs just € 99 on the Internet. Records at a very high quality. I almost never use headphones. look good on the VU meter on your recorder. But just a small earpiece is enough. You can transfer files via USB to a PC. Editing is fine with AUDACITY. Is a free utility.

You can't really go wrong with the Sony MDR-7506 headphones. Personally, I'm not a fan of them, but pretty much 99.99% of the world doesn't share my opinion. From production sound mixers on feature films, to kids recording their band in the basement, these headphones are revered for their sonic truth, reliability, and resilience. I have personally Sennheiser HD 650 headphones and I just love them, even though they are not closed so I am not sure if they are the best ones for recording. But for musical experiences they are really really good. The price was not the cheapest, but I think I'm going to be satisfied with them for a long long time.

I have the Sony head phones listed above. The are OK kind of fragile after years of use the cushion cover for the ear piece has started to fall off. They are good head phones but others are just as good.

well about phones... For a month or so I am using beyerdynamic DT 770M (80 OHm), they were designed for drummers,so they have very goood attenuation of ambient noise (very suitable for field monitoring), and also have very good dynamic & spectral range so are suitable for post production/editing/pre-mixing as well... btw, using zoom h4n with them, works just fine. I bought them for about 170 euro but i am sure you will find a better price.
