Hello. i understand it's possible to convert data files (txt, jpg, dat... etc) on a pc into an audio wav (alva noto did this on his transall series). i've scoured the net looking for information on how to do this and haven't found anything. if anyone knows how could you please explain the process or at least point me in a direction. thanks
Interesting... I made a few tests and it seems that pictures tend to yield just 'noise', while line patterns can result into nice sounds. Just uploaded the sound of this image:

Yep can be done .... try cool Edit does it fine audio to txt and txt to audio, Quite fun to work with a batch file to scamble the txt and a descamble batch at your friends house have way across the world (Just so nobody can decrypt your lasted number one hit as you send it via email to the produduction manager)
in reguards to other data try a free program called datafy??? (I don't know where to find it exactly but google always works)
same sort of thing turn a data file (any sort to hex in txt format) then you can write a batch file to create some strange number crunching math thingy to convert to a cool edit data file
import into cooledit and wa la......
