Hi,
I decided to spend some money in proper contact mics and hydrophones based on piezos, better finished and more durable than the ones I can do and I met several fundamental questions:
- To be used directly into my Zoom H2 (eventually through a Fel Battery Preamp) there will probably be an impedance issue. According the sources I read, this can be bypassed by means of a so called FET Buffer. I just found wether mics that don't have this or mics that have it but require 48V Phantom Power, that I don't have. About FET Buffers I just found circuitry instructions to do it yourself, what I sincerely cannot afford. So: any tips on getting already working contact mics that don't suffer from the lack of low end due to this impedance issue? Or will my Fel Battery Preamp do this job? Or maybe some tips about how and where to get something that solves this impedance matching, like a ready to use FET Buffer or similar? I would spend the money in getting proper contact mics, but I don't want to get just the same piezo components that I can get, but soldered, finished and 10 times more expensive, as I saw in some sites...
- I saw that there usually are two types of transducers for hydrophones: a piezo and electrec capsules (usually the panasonics). Do you have some experience on both, which one is more preferable?
Thank you for your tips,
Alberto
