Ey guys,
Im looking for a (Fairly) clean recording of that classic nokia sms alert. Anybody got that?
i do have one on my computer that i recorded a while ago...but the Java applet can't see any files and my ftp won't connect
ah, uploaded them as a zip to my own server...theres some other standard nokia tunes in there:
http://www.streety.skum001.com/Phone.zip
hhm weird, ftp server works for me, which client are yo uusing?
ey thanks! Its indeed the classic nokai ringtone, but not exactly the text message alert im seeking. The damn thing is, i cant find the charger for my ancient nokia and nobody seems to have one these days.
Thanks a lot though!
nah that sounds way too complex, it's that ultra simple "beep beep" I would make it myself but I have too vague a memory of it to recreate it :-/
anyways, it worked for what i needed it for. Thanks Streety. Would be cool to have those in the database aswell!

Hey Streety, great samples. Will confuse the hell out of them at the office
As regards the FTP problem you had, do you have any port blockers on for ports 20-21? This would prevent FTP inbound/outbound traffic (as it did for me). Once I cleared it the applet works fine... Might help, I dunno
Cheers
with the applet i can't 'see' my files, just the folders, and my ftp (SmartFTP) says:
[19:17:09] SmartFTP v2.0.996.29
[19:17:09] Resolving host name "ftp://freesound.iua.upf.edu/"
[19:17:09] Unable to resolve host name.
[19:17:09] Active Help: http://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/index.php/81
[19:17:09] Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)...
Hi Streety,
hhm, thats really odd. try the same with this ip: 193.145.55.3
Thats spookey Anton,
was about to ask streety to ping "freesound.iua.upf.edu" (no quotes) and see what he gets
i get the ip address you gave ok. tried it with smartftp both ways and it's ok.
could it be his dns servers not configured correctly?
yeah or maybe his dns doesnt have a good hookup to spain? dunno only thing i could think of from that error, but weirdness of course that he can connect to the http
lol, i have no clue....if one of you gentlemen could give us a hand, i'd be very grateful. if its easier to chat on msn mine is: mike_moleman@hotmail.com
ta boys
Edit: just tried it with the i.p. and connected. thankyou for your help!!
Edit 2: just one question! how do i make a pack? do you think the phone sampes would be better in a pack or seperate?
Edit 3: i found out how to make a pack. When the you make a pack can you still find the files individually?
Edit 4: don't worry. i should really look and investigate beforehand!
hey Streety, i think i know what the problem was with your FTP client: You forgot to remove the slashes and the protocol name from "ftp://freesound.iua.upf.edu/", it should be "freesound.iua.upf.edu" (without the quotes). Its strange - a very simple feature to implement, yet none of the FTP clients i used was able to parse "ftp://*" adresses..
Cheers!
thanks dude, but it doesn't work. my ftp client says the address is incomplete. odd. but the i.p is grand. thanks all for your help!!
Totally cool that we got it working. Just for kicks you could try and use a alternative dns server (217.69.79.11 for example) and see if that helps.
