Hey guys,
I've just discovered these forums and was I excited!
Finally, a place decicated for us artists to share our samples.
Anyways, I was looking for a few bass samples. The ones that are used in Hard Dance/Happy Hardcore tracks. You know the ones.
I've tried looking in the search engine, but it doesn't bring much up. Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance
I'm after the same,I'm going to make some myself in the next week or so but we could do with some more samples of other people
Hey look, this IS a forum where people help each other out with samples, right??
It seems like hardly anyone is even looking at this thread.
I find it REALLY hard to believe that no one has samples of this nature.
All I'm looking for is a hardcore 'ripping bass' sound (or a few of them).
Can't ANYONE help me?
I'm sorry, but as a regular I've almost started ignoring threads like this, since there are a ton of things in the database. So, either you're not looking hard enough, or there's a good reason why what we have isn't working, but that reason is not being articulated so there is no way for us to help you. Also I'm no expert on modern music terminology (ripping bass? hoover?) but here are a couple of artists here that might be able to help you more in that regard.
Sorry, I'm new here.
I hope you're not typical of the average user on here. I'd hate to think a forum based on such a good purpose is filled with uppity wankers like yourself who feel they are too good to help those of us who are a little less experienced.
It seems to me that there are other people besides me who are looking for these, and I find it hard to believe that a forum filled with such talented musicians don't even KNOW what we're talking about, let alone be able to help us.
Buddy, I've used the search engine.... I KNOW how to use a search engine... But nothing came up...
And NO, I'm not looking for a hoover... (since when does a hoover synth qualify as a 'bass' sound anyway?)
Now is there anyone here who is at least WILLING to help me?
i didn't want to have to say this, but it needs to be said.
but firstly, please watch your language, as we have all sorts of people on this forum. also, Halleck is a very nice, knowledgeable and respected member of this forum - so watch who you call a w*nker next time.
Just searching for bass gives me well over 1000 results, tried looking? also, not all of us are musicians. I am a guitar player and have been for over 6 years but yet I have never heard of the expression of 'ripping' maybe try explaining your desired effect for those non musical or stupid musicians (like myself - as by all accounts I'm not talented because I don't know what a ripping bass is)
Another point to make is that this isn't primarily a musical database. Look at most of the sounds and you have field recordings, weird sounds that you can't just pick up an instrument and make. Yes, there are some instrumental sounds on here - for those like myself who can't play bass (or don't have one) and would like a bass sample.
So please, before you start abusing, making sarcastic comments and such in your 4th post. Think about our experience, and our view of the world. We are humans and we don't take nicely to new people coming on here and slagging us off. Ask nicely...and you may get a better response.
So, if you wouldn't mind, please explain what a 'ripping bass' is...
I'm sorry if I came off as an "uppity wanker"... what I meant to say was that I don't have any way to really help you, not that I'm too good to. Maybe what I've heard on here and thought was good bass doesn't qualify as good bass to you, and I'd like to understand why.
For instance, what's wrong with this sample pack? Is it too slow?
I'm asking for you to tell us what's wrong with what you found so that we can help you find something more suitable.
And as for the hoover thing.. yeah I know it's not what your looking for, I was using it as an example of modern terminology that I'm not too familiar with.
first off i guess my smart a$$ should add some words..because as you all know..i'm the top smart a$$ here.
to begin...people still playing jungle and d n b? oh i mean...hard core...what are you..21? i thought "hardcore" died with candy flipping and those funny ass trance beats about seamee street.
just to explain to my good friend streety and hall-ripping is not a kind of bass but more so..its slang..ya know its similar to saying
tight bass...or banging bass...funky bass....or ripping-etc
now this guy claims he know's how to use a search engine? well i believe on the highest ranking sounds there's a nice bass sound deep and perfect for his style of music....oh wait wait wait..HE WANT'S A COMPLETE BASSLINE..YA KNOW THE ONE'S WHERE WE DO ALL THE WORK AND HE TELLS HIS GIRL THAT HE DID IT!
i got nothing against this guy but come on now buddy, you open your mouth like that and you expect us not to call you on it?
i could AND WOULD GO ON but I need to get to work
so your'e lucky i stopped here or i'd have bram telling me to chill.
in which case i'm sure he's gonna tell me it anyway.
Try CCmixter for basslines and other more phrases and lines and loops... most sounds here are on the molecular level or for ambient parts of music and many many many other things... I farted around with loops but I prefer building my ripping ballsack jams from scratch with hand drawn wave forms in the dark, naked. Anyone remember that funny post long ago about DnB? I always pictured Bram as a chinese guy... but he looks like a viking... I think I am blocked by the firewall at work so I don't check in as much to help with requests but most of the stuff is tagged and you need to make it work for you... again... Try finding the UPLOADER of the closest thing you are looking for and asking them for what you need? How about downloading 1 of a thousand free VST's and tweak the presets to make whatever bassline you need? How about wanking uncle charlies niblitz? I am almost out of psychadelics so I need to go now... Happy Halloween to those pagans who may still be collecting trinkets in the woods to honor dead relatives! Hope you find your sounds and hope we all learn each other's version of what we think english is! By the way, there are 1539 things tagged bass... I have a few sample packs full of them you may want to try...
WANK ON!
i stand corrected
it was hall telling me to chill.
okay hall but only because you said it so nice. but hey someone here has to be the hard a$$. this site -TO ME-goes by this rule
contribute and you have a say
don't contribute and you get to keep your mouth shut.
okay i'll be nice now.
First of all let me apologise to everyone except LS. Just the fact that you call YOURSELF a smart arse is the biggest indication of how far up your own asshole you really are.
That first post of yours was so full of bullshit I can't even begin to dissect it. So instead of asserting that I'm 21, untalented, unexperienced and 'want it pre-made so I can tell my girl that I did it', why don't you NOT waste your time and not post?
Oh, I see... Because you're a 'smartass'. Oh bravo... I'm sure people worship you for it. You must feel really accomplished.
But to everyone else, sorry for coming across so hard... And to LS, seriously buddy, go screw yourself, I don't take shit from anybody... 5 posts or not.
For anyone that would be so kind as to help me and not be a tool about it, here is a sample of a song that I would like a bass sample similar to.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/olpsoj
I'd appreciate it if people didn't stoop so low as to attack the music genre I'm referring to.
And for those of you complaining about me not contributing, just remember, I AM new here, and I DO intend to be a useful member of this community and help wherever I can.
Thanks for any help.
I get it now, thanks for posting the sample. LS and corvus, stop fighting please.
As to the actual request... what about these packs:
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/packsViewSingle.php?id=837 (first couple especially)
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/packsViewSingle.php?id=1325
these samples:
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/samplesViewSingle.php?id=7561 (close match IMO)
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/samplesViewSingle.php?id=21158
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/samplesViewSingle.php?id=5114
and a few of the uptempo ones from this pack perhaps?
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/packsViewSingle.php?id=1097
As stated before, ccMixter has more in this vein.
Halleck,
Thanks so much for those, however these aren't what I'm looking for... I'm looking for bass samples only, not loops... And the ones you've found seem to just be distorted kicks. I find that all the bass samples on the database are just high pitches acid basslines, lacking in the depth that the example bassline had that I posted.
Just bass samples only please.
Have you tried synthesising some bass samples yourself? That's probably the best way to go about it if you can't find it here. There's plenty of links to free synths that'll help you get there, here:
Corvus, I'm gonna help you becuase that is what this site is about.
But first, let me tell you that you've come on here, asked for help, and then reacted like a cnut when someone makes a fair and honest response.
Trying to bait people with "you lot dont know what your on about with bass" is not going to make people want to help you either.
If you know so much, then why are you here?
Evidently there are people that know more than you - do you want them to help? You've shown your limited knowledge of bass sounds by citing the hoover sound as a lead instrument only - sounds like your banging on about that mid-range hoovers made famous by tracks like Dominator that is also canned in DnB/HardHouse/Hardcore, which happens to be from a 90's sample CD. I suggest you try googling "Alpha Juno What The" mate, cus thats where the sound came from, and it can get as bassey as you like.
I might also suggest you start listening to people when they are ultimately trying to help you, and keep your aggressive rants off this site - no one wants to read that waste of space. If your gonna speak, then please be nice and be constructive. Believe me when I say that the people you've insulted know their shit.
Now I've had my little rant, may I offer you some basses that may or may not be of use to you:

What you need to do is load em up in a basic sampler patch with no effects or funny business (make sure no unison, filter all the way up to begin, and velocity is off) and then set the amplitude envelope to something like: attack 5ms, decay 50ms, sustain -3dB (almost at full), and release 50ms. Go from there and maybe you might get what your looking for.
