Performing a few search on the freesound database seems there's a lack of xylophones, vibes, mallets and other exotic percussions/instruments
not that i'm in need these sounds right now for a specific project
i just would love to ear something special from this side
There's also a lack of cuckoo clock sounds... I might have to do something about this.
Not to worry - this isn't a request, just an observation.
Yeah I'd like stuff like that to appear too. All's I've got is a Remo hand drum which really probably will record poor.
you can try here for some stuff:
http://www.philharmonia.co.uk/thesoundexchange/sound_samples/sample_libraries/
Free to use only in musical projects. Quite a few percussive samples.
Go get the torrent for the G-town church sampling project. Features stuff like anvils quite a few other percussive thing:
http://www.legaltorrents.com/index.htm Sampling + I believe license.
Also thought I saw a kalimba and glockenspiel on FreeSound. Not quite what you're looking for probably but maybe it is...

seems a quality orchestra database!
edit: wait a moment! this is waht i call quality stuff ->

the good news it's that all material can be use freely
'Even if you use them to create a No.1 selling CD'
(you can share but of course you cannot re-sell them!)
Yeah the Philharmonia orchestra is free if you incorporate samples in a musically creative way. So no using that stuff singularly as sounds. And they probably wouldn't be too happy if you use a song like passage on a cd without any modification, or just all by itself in a soundtrack.
Dobroide's tambourine samples have kind of an exotic feel. It does not sound like a tambourine to me, but it sounds good.(I guess I always think of those metal cymbal hits when a tambourine makes noise)
There's also Djembe on here. You could try some of the piano experimentation samples for some percussive effects. Only other thing I can recall was magnets dropping on drums. They're mostly annoying to my ears but the drum he hits it on sounds cool. I don't know if you can make a good sample out of that between the annoying magnet drops though.
One more
Go to the bottom of the page for Kong Loop pack. Its got some really awesome exotic percussion.
Its got a license that's very similar to Sampling+. Just look at it in the zip file to be sure.
