Hello all! I'm looking for some sound of the countryside for an atmos track to go with a film which was filmed in a Northern England moorland type setting. I've found some good sounds on Freesound and we already have some of our own recordings (just uploaded one of them) but for the most they're too lively (too many happy birds!) for the first portion of the film. On a whole the film has a dark to light narrative and conviniently with weather to suit this. So I'm after something, not necessarily grim, but more subtle than the average spring/summer countryside recording. There's nothing such as rain or wind going on in the picture, check out the images below which are taken from some of the scenes we want these sounds for.

We have recorded a lot of sounds, but have sold some of our recording gear to buy post kit, so it's gonna be difficult for us to record them ourselves :?

Alternatively, do a search for "scrubland" or "peladillo" (in sample titles)

Thanks for the links gents. They're all very good but not quite what I need. The scrubland samples just don't fit the picture and the wind ones, are just too windy . I already considered that one you sugessted Halleck, it does have the right atmosphere for the desired effect, but there's too much going on such as leaves blowing for instance. In the picture, what little deciduous trees that are about, do not have any leaves on them. Also anything with any kind of wind is just too much and interferes with what else is going on. Thanks again fellers, but my search continues.

I'm sure a recording of a moorland would be suitable. Something with say a few sheep, grouse, crows/rooks etc against a calm(er) backdrop. Not so much chirp happy birds, which seemingly is the backdrop in most of what we have in existing recordings.

Serious, adding tiny bits of samples to silence could be the best option to construct the ambiance you want (?)

Seriously though, you may be right. Although I have heard what I'm looking for, I was just too stupid to record it. It's definately some moorland I'm after, which doesn't have all the happy birds just funny sounding grouse and stuff and of course the dreary ambience. I'm definately taking a shotgun (in addition to the microphone) on my next field trip. For now though I think I'm giving into crows for the first scene which is pictured in my 1sy post:

Thanks to inchadney! It's a good quality recording and I'm getting so good results after multibanding to taste but need to get rid of traffic in the background. Finding other good stuff for later scenes too, an ever amazing resource is freesound.

Thanks for helping me so far guys. I think your wind pack will be of use later in the film dobroide btw.

If anyone knows of any moorland recordings however, or happens to live on a moor such recordings would be most useful.
