I've searched a little bit around the site and found 1-2 samples I enjoyed but I havn't been able to find any others to my likes. I don't really want anything upbeat, but ambient, slow, clear, and kind of ... sad? sounding. It's hard to explain but any suggestions would help. thanks.
edit: Also I was considering using some of my writings in a few tracks, so if anyone is interested in recording them for me, you can email me at classlessness@gmail.com ; I would like at least one guy and one girl, but I'm not incredibly picky...e-mail if interested..thanks
Hm... http://ccmixter.org/media/files/duncan_beattie/7116 ?
cool, I might use it, but we'll see...I guess I'm looking for something more simple...just a few notes up and down and whatnot...but thanks for the help
The philharmonia orchestra might have something... http://www.philharmonia.co.uk/thesoundexchange/sound_samples/sample_libraries/
And check out "one step forward" parts 2 and 3 (3 is the simplest) from freesounder DrNI: http://www.drni.de/em/constant_change.php
cool, good find and thanks for taking the time to help...if anyone has any others that'd be great...I'd like as many as possible
No problem. You should keep searching the site as well, there may be more hidden gems in the freesound library. When I usually look for sounds I can spend up to an hour trying different search phrases, exploring tags and related samples, etc.
yea, i've been searchin like mad...i'm thinking of downloading like single shots of piano keys and creating my own in Acid...but I'm not sure yet...I've found two from other sites that I've used in songs, but I'm becoming more and more picky ...I have downloaded 2-3 samples here I think and I'll probably use them, but it's hard to explain exactly what I'm looking for...I suppose I could upload a sample of a piece I like and that could maybe help?

there's one I enjoyed...incredibly simple
i have a couple of piano vst's if you know the notes you want played, i can make the sample you want...
http://theremin.music.uiowa.edu/MIS.piano.html
Has a bunch of Piano samples that covers the range of instrument with 3 different loudnesses for each note. The site states their royalty free, they'd just like to see any work you make with it.
Thanvannispen posted a bunch of piano samples that are dark:
right on...thanks streety, if I'm unsuccessful with some others, I may just have you do that; and soundhead thanks for the sites, I'll definitely check em out...
Anyway, I downloaded some .m3u's and I take it they're worthless...I'm not sure how to use them in Acid...and I do believe you can't convert them to .wav
I tried changing them to .mp3 but no success
.m3u is an mp3 playlist... you need to find a download link, or just open the .m3u in a text editor as it often contains the correct URL of the mp3 file(s).
Soundhead: niiice... I knew we must have something. Funny, I never checked out that other website because I thought it only had theremin samples.
if you can't find the suitable mp3 download you need something like audacity to record whats being played!
Hey everyone, I'm new to freesound, but love the site and all the awesome sounds here. I just wanted to give an update to anyone trying to use the m3u file, I had actually downloaded this sound on my laptop then jumpdrived it to my production computer, when i did it said "file not found" well, you have to open the m3u with notepad and find where your browser downloaded it too, the m3u is only a "playlist" for media player and it throws a shortcut on your desktop for the file to play when the original is where your browser put it. The M3U in notepad shows you the path to locate to actual MP3. Hope this helps.
