MERCY !
I have to make the sound of a short animated movie which has to be ready before April (the guy who's making it has exams). Which means that I have less than two months...
Here's what it is : the story of a boy, in the favellas (poor suburbs of say, Mexico city), dreams that he flies.
Here's a link to the director's blog (so that you can see some images).
I know I'm a modest contributor for Freesounds, and I hope people wont let me down for this reason !
I basically need sounds for the ambience :
- old VW Beattle passing, maybe climbing a hill; Could be replaced by old GMs, old vans...
- children playing in the sreet, speaking Spanish
- a TV or a radio, in Spanish, broadcasting a soccer match, or anything "energic"
- sounds of constructions
Let me know if you think of anything that would be cool in addition...
The point is that a favella is like a town, minus the sounds of cars (only one or two passing). I'd need ambiences that last more than one minute, or would be loopable...
I already downloaded these sounds :
A little girl singing in Spanish : pitx
Spanish demonstration : oyez
City environment : man
Car on a dirt road : dobroide
Car starting : dobroide
Jet passing : Terwelp
Plane landing : Bram
Construction : situational
Streetlife and football : RCA
I didn't comment nor rated theses sounds, but be sure I will, and the authors will eventually be credited in the movie.
Should I precise that it's a school homework, so there's no money in it... But the line tests I've seen make me think that this guy has open roads ahead !
Thanks in advance ! If I had more time, I'd record these sounds myself, but, hey !, why not using what's already here ?
Besides, does anybody nows about a good free soundfont of salsa trumpets ?
Hi there:
hope this is any use:

As for the soccer match it could be easy for me to record later today.
I have one warning though... South American variants of Spanish have (note the plural!) *notably* different [accents] from where I live (south Spain). Just keep it in mind.
au revoir
Edit: You may also wish to check my 'voices' pack, I forgot to mention

I missed these, thank you !
For the accents, I don't think that it would be a really big problem, as the voices would be in the background. But forgive my ignorance : south Spain is castilliano (spell?)? Is it the Castillian or the Catalan (sorry, I switched to French on this one...) that has the "rrr" (j) sound ?
(That's a shame : I live three hours away from Spain, and never crossed the Pyrenees...)
Thanks again !

Is it the Castillian or the Catalan (sorry, I switched to French on this one...) that has the "rrr" (j) sound ?
I'm no linguist, but Castilian is more or less equivalent to Iberian Spanish. It has a number of accents across Iberia, but ss far as I know the double, strong 'r' is common to all of them.
Southern Spanish Castilian in all of my voice recordings is of the Andalusian variety, with a remarkable whistling 's' (similar to south American Spanish, by the way). As for Catalan it is as different from Castilian as Portuguese or French, at least to my ear (again, no linguistic opinion here).

Interesting...
as for an energetic crowd, what about:

This record of a crowd, though really great, wouldn't do the trick...
I just need the energic comment +crowd on TV or on a radio. The kind of sound you would hear coming from a home, in a hot summer afternoon, in a suburb of Mexico City... And it would be in the background so it has to be clear enough...
Here, with the fireworks, it's almost a civil war scene !
I'll try to see what it gives without the "bangs"...
Thanks !
Hello
Try this pack, see what can u get:

If you really want the people to believe it's México, keep in mind that their accent IS really different, and not only the accent, but the words used, there are much differences in so many things, that u can't put a tv speaker from spain and pretend is mexican.
At least not in the ears of a speaker of any castillian variation.
Take care.
I'm aware of that... But it would be in the background....
Well, sure, if anybody did find anything in south american spanish, that would be awesome ! But for a first version, "normal" Spanish would be just right.
(cool samples, by the way... Might be useful...)
