Hi all. I am searching for the sound of a heavy wood piece ( maybe from a tree, the ones (Ed: logs) you use on the fire) when you throw it on other wood pieces. In other words i am looking for this sound 2 pieces ( or more ) make when you throw the one to the others.
I would try it by leave the big piece from a height ( 1 meter ) to the others who are on the ground.. My mic is damaged and it needs more than a month to be prepared
And i need this as soon as possible. Please anybody who can help me post a reply here.
If it sounds weird then a specific heavy ''guuup'' similar to wood on wood sound would be warmly appreciated.
Thanx very much for reading.

Hi erdie.
yes it is useful, but i have to work on them to make them heavier.
I am looking for a sound which is more heavu than this. This reminds me some thin piece of wood.
What i have in mind is a fat piece of wood which causes a heavy sound.
Also it would be great if there is no just one sound but like falling in several others, like you know when you are collecting pieces of wood and you are trying to make a bunch of them and throw them from a little distance. Is it more clear now?
Anyways, thank you for your help, if you have something more post it here.
Erdie

Ah well, looks like this won't quite fit the bill either.

I'll see if I can find a pile of big logs somewhere.

hello again mike
i tried to edit it little bit and i hope its going to work like i want it...
could you please let me know how did you recorded this?
i have to tell you that your recordings are my favourite inside here
very good taste and detailed...
what equipment you use? i am about to but the rode nt4 but i have not decided yet...
thank you very much for this sample
Hi sadmac,
Thanks indeed. For that recording I used a Sony ECM-MS957 mid-side stereo mic, into a "fel" mic pre-amp, into an iRiver WAV recorder.
The mic was on a small stand on the ground just one foot from the log pile, in the corner of my garden. I picked up one or two logs, and dropped them on the pile from a short height, about half a metre.
take a listen also to my Skittles1 and Skittles2 files. I was going to offer them as alternatives for Wood On Wood, but decided they sounded more like skittles. These were recorded in my garage on a concrete floor. I borrowed a few wooden logs from a friend.
