Hi - Great site!
I'm looking for a longer clip - was at least 30 seconds or longer - of a human voice doing racecar laps. He was switching gears, winding them out- downshifting, and restarting the gear sequence. Does anybody know where I can find this? Any help would be appreciated.
TIA
I can think of at least two sources for this but as to the legality...
The first is "The Grand Prix of Gibraltar" comedy recording by Peter Ustinov. He did this spoof of international racing in the 1960s (including parodies of national stereotypes, actual race drivers, cars, and racing itself) when Riverside and other record companies were releasing audio interviews of racecar drivers and "sounds of racing" albums. This was back when the (real) Grand Prix got more attention than NASCAR does today. It is available on CD, but hard to find. Ustinov claims he recorded it all (including all of the characters, narration, and the voice sound effects, leaving the studio to do a couple of additional sounds) in a day, despite having a severe cold.
The second is another comedy recording from the 1970s (?) called "Bert and I" recorded by Maine humorist Marshall Dodge. The segment "Which Way to East Vassalboro?" has several voice imitations of a "foreign sportscar" zooming up and down a rural road, changing gears, accelerating, decelerating, and braking. Available on CD, but very hard to find.
