Hi, I am looking for any possible recordings of Scottish children playing and also Scottish children's songs. (There is quite a subculture of very traditional and often humorous Scottish children's songs). I am also looking for sound samples of just ordinary folk chatting, old folk reminiscing about past times - and basically anything with anyone telling a story of some kind or other. (Perhaps of something that happened to them in the past). In particular I would welcome anything from Glasgow, or any of the big cities
Unfortunately as I am no longer in Scotland, so obtaining material like this is likely to prove very difficult - and besides which I'm not certain how feasible it is to follow kids around in a playground with a tape recorder is without risking being accused of pedophilia.
I wonder if anyone here might be willing/able to help?
If anyone can help, I would need as much supplementary data about any samples that you may feel able to obtain, such as the time and place it was taken, who was speaking (if known) what the context of the conversation or recording was, is the subject known to the person recording it and so on.
In a sense what I am hoping to create is a soundscape of an entire city - which although ambitious, would certainly be an interesting and worthwhile thing to attempt.
So if anyone can help in any way at all, I really would be eternally grateful.
