First of all, I'd just like to say hello and what a wonderful site you have. Thank you for having something as wonderful as this, especially for a simpleton like me who doesn't have time to create sounds for his applications/video games.
As to the request, I have a few requests if it is at all possible for them to be fulfilled. I have searched for several days now and, although I've found one or two things that would "fill in the gaps" for the time being, I'd much rather find sounds that better suit the needs.
(Oh, and a quick disclaimer, I've only looked at all samples 2 seconds and shorter because that's the maximum sample length I think I can safely use in this game.)
1. I'm looking for some small "burst" or "burn" explosion type samples, like things slamming into metal and catching fire or something similar. I had found a drum that comes rather close but, after hearing the sound over a period of time during playtesting, I have grown agitated with it.
2. I'd like some kind of a sparkly sound for a 1-up (gain one life), can't find anything that suits my taste on this at all, especially since I need 1-2 second samples (at the very longest). Possibly a nice soothing pattern that repeats 2-3 times with increasing pitch, if you know what I mean.
3. A very quick sound for a burst of flame (as from a fuel engine).
4. What could be considered shots from a double gun of high caliber, as the ship involved has two "front guns" that are used to take out the enemies at a range. Don't want something that sounds like a big ol' cannon, but definitely not as small as a handgun, either!
Anything that fits any combination of these four would be IMMENSELY appreciated, even if just one of them! I'll be more than happy to properly attribute anyone that can contribute to this work, it was a video game that I made over 10 years ago in DOS and a lot of my college friends enjoyed playing it, so I thought I'd re-create it now for my daughter who is finally old enough to start enjoying computer games (as well as anyone else on the internet who might take a fancy to such a "classically-styled" game!).
Thanks in advance!

P.S. I hope this (especially as a first post) doesn't seem too intrusive/demanding... like I said, if I could just find even one sample requested I would be eternally grateful!
I'll take the case!
It's an old school video game right? I'm thinking 8-bit SNES-ish sounds?

Thank you so much! The game was first made back then but it is definitely not the same game it used to be (I don't even have an original copy anymore), so it is hopefully going to be somewhat more modernized. In fact, I intend to release two versions of the game, a "classic" version for those who might enjoy the old style, and a more cutting edge version with better graphics, sound and tougher/more complex gameplay, just to see what gets more interest from internet gamers.
If you'd like to see the work-in-progress at any time, let me know, I'd be more than happy to compile it and toss it over for you to see what I'm already using. I have a few sounds in place now sampled from freesound users but I'm not entirely sure they are sounds I want to stick with. Not to sound insulting to their work, mind you! But I want gamers to know I really put effort into this game for their enjoyment, and part of that is connecting the right sounds with the right events.
Anyway, thanks again, I can't tell you how grateful I am for any and all help, I'm not fantastic when it comes to designing graphics but I'm far FAR worse with sound! lol

P.S. Oh, and not sure if I was clear on this before but the game is original, I'm remaking a game that I had made in college. Just in case there's confusion on what kind of game I'm making.
if you're looking for battle sounds, I suggest alienbomb's "battle fx" pack, I used it for a song and it owns.

Thanks for the tip but it's not quite what I'm going for, here's why:
1. The game is set in the air/open space and the sounds portrayed in that pack all are from ground combat. Good quality, mind you, but not the genre I need.
2. Most of the sounds are already pre-mixed, and I need clean samples (example, the one that has a mix of bursting gunfire and other combat noises all happening at once).
3. A few of them sounded "clipped", whereas video game sounds need to sound stand-alone... as in, when the sound bite ends, there shouldn't be hanging noise left ringing in the ears.\
(I apologize for not knowing any technical terms in regards to sampling and mixing, if there are any.)
If what I'm looking for is asking a bit much, I can completely understand and I don't mind hearing that, but I'm not counting on making money on the game so I'm trying to avoid spending any on it until I have to, if you catch my drift! lol

I just uploaded a bunch of sounds, check my "More Space Sounds!" pack when it is moderated.. there are a few game element sounds worth checking out that might fit the bill...
