hello, I'm new here. my name is James.
For a song I'm doing, I need a cymbal or hi-hat sound that sounds like "shhh". I've tried using my hi-hat to get it, but it sdounds more like a gong (incidentally, anyone know how I can get this sound out of an old drum kit?)
Remember those old drum machines that have the crappy samples? I'm sure that the sound that I'm looking for is on one of them. I don't mind how artificial it sounds, I just need a 'shhh' sound. I've lookd through the freesound samples and there doesn't seem to be anything that fits.
If possible I need it to be about a couple of seconds long.
Thank you.
hi
the most "shhhh" sounding drumcomputer sound that I know of is the Hammond Auto-Vari 64 cymbal but its not found here I am afraid. Am I allowed to upload that sound? What is the definition of a PCM Keyboard mentioned in the licence? Its out of an old drumbox...

In case you find it elsewere- try timestretching it instead of pitching or process by granular synthesis.
You might want to look for a free prog called GranuLab to do that...
Hope this might help you.
