I don't know if there are any here, but I just made two quick-and-dirty recordings for you on my ARES-MII. These are unprocessed, straight off the recorder:
8 bit mono wav, aLAW encoded:

8 bit mono wav, g729a encoded:

The aLAW file is larger (64Kbps), but you're more likely to already have a decoder for it. The g729a file is smaller (8kbps), but is not supported by as many applications (or may require a plugin to play).

With most audio software, you should be able to take any sound and convert it to 8 bit, mono, 44.1 or 22.05 kHz.
It wasn't clear to me what problem the original poster was trying to solve. I had assume he wanted to test some software for compatibility with 8 bit files, in which case there are a number of variables besides just the bit depth (there's also sampling rate and codec). Not all programs can produce (or process) all possible formats, and that's why I posted the aLaw and g729a/8KHz samples.
