Hi.
Ok. Two more sounds needed.
These ones are related to picture/shot with big old wooden Greek ship, like this one:
http://www.visitkarpathos.com/images/intelli/greek_ship_with%20sails%20and%20oars.jpg
1st sound:
I need sound of paddling when oars 'clonk' to wood parts of the ship, fairly "big" sound, since it is big ship,
sound is needed without background sound, since water sounds related to paddling already exist.
2nd sound:
Main character is tight to main-mast.
He is trying to get free and ropes are making some sound when he tries to free himself. I need this sound, fairly gentle sound when rope takes contact (term in english?) with tree.
Same again... ideas welcome how to make foley and/or ideas what sound/keyword could be close what I'm looking for. Unfortunately in my current studio I don't have any big wood blocks for making foleys myself and it is also for other reasons fairly unpractical to make any foleys.
Related to 1st sound, I have already checked samples found with keywords paddling, paddle, oars, rowing.
This one actually has quite nice 'wood' sound, dark 'clonk' after splash, but unfortunately there is also water sounds mixed to same sample.

I'm looking maybe bit bigger sound than in this example.

This is a straight recording of rowing a boat on a lake so the water sounds are not "mixed to the same sample",instead water plays an integral part in all that you hear here,(the tension on the oars as they are pulled and raised etc.)So it's hard to imagine how this sound could be reproduced "dry",I hope someone(a sound-effects wizard?)can help you jukhau!
Sorry for my "confusing" english, with 'mixing' I just ment they are naturally mixed together. Your sample is nice, but since I already had other sounds, it is unusable for me, unless I start isolating 'clonk' from it, but I rather would use pure sounds.

Well... of course it could be one possibility, but it is not really attractive idea. Current mix works fine and it is really close to final version, I don't want to mix new sounds in there, unless they bring something totally new and have really fixed purpose for being present on the mix.
I have done earlier too much of it, using sounds with additional, unwanted background "noises", it "confuses" whole mix when there are sounds present, which aren't needed and they don't make any sense.
I think I will just make random search, probably 'clonk' is found from some totally different source, after some tweaking etc. since same also happened with sound for flying.
Ok. I managed to isolate couple sounds (kriik-clonk) from sample I linked earlier. They fit really well to the sea atmosphere and older paddling sounds. I don't think there is really room for new 'clonk' sounds, I just realised it while adding these couple new samples. So it's fine now.
Thanks to juskiddink and many others for providing samples for this animation. You are all credited. Animation is not coming to internet distribution, but it is possible to see next year on Finnish YLE TV1 and festivals in Finland and hopefully also abroad.
Glad that you could use my sound jukhau.Thanx!
Antaisitko ystävällisesti tietooni milloin se näytetään Suomessa.Kiitos!
I don't know exact dates yet, but I will let you know when I have better information.
I could post info here for everyone to check out.
