The 'quest for inspiration' is a project run by dance artist Andy Harris and Ambient glitch artist Jez Plumley. The project currently has around 15 artists, who are each contributing a selection of audio files (composed by themselves) with virtually no limitations which will then be arranged into a piece, and handed back for further work. All the audio from all the composers is treated equally and most of it will go in. The piece is due for its first deadline of work on 25th november, ready for the first release on xmas day... we're currently looking for more radio stations who want to play it... and we are in the publicity stage...
We have a whole load of interest in the project and are looking for more... because after christmas it gets really exciting when artists from other countries are introduced to it...
The completion date is Summer 2006... when the RMX OF INSPIRATION begins... a project for remixers to remix the original quest...!
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED THEN EMAIL ME AT QUEST@GRUZ.DEMON.CO.UK
and i'll send you the brief straight back... and you can get composing!
Thanks guys and girls, i'll look forward to working with you!

Contribute to what?? ->freesound?
I started the project off with initial audio along with Andy my business partner... We've told all the composers working with us about this freesound project, which incidently is amazing. Once i get the initial audio in, anything that can be put on freesound will of course be, along with some of my samples. If anyone who might be reading this wants a copy of the brief then of course i'll send one out to you, basically we're really open about what we're looking for, at this stage it's just a collection of musical samples. Later on after christmas we're going to be looking more at getting people to compose to a piece which has already been created.. ie by themselves and all the other guys working on the project.
We're now getting interest from Belgium so if we could get some from Barcelona etc that would be absolutly great... if we could go globel... even better!!!

yeah, contribute to freesound
I'm still waitjing for someone to use the tags to organise things in here.
Instead of telling composers to send you files, you could - for example - tell them to upload files and tag them with one particular tag. This way it would be easy to download all files and have them in a publicly accessible place as well!
Anyway, just an idea

HI Guys,
I agree that would be cool to do an online piece of music, the quest for inspiration is however a project that's being run out of a studio in Nottingham, and works in a slightly different way, whereby all the audio is sent into a team of people who edit the piece, and then send it out to the composers again to add to.
If anyone's interested in joining in with the project then that's cool, unfortunatly i can't put all the stuff online right now!
The websites coming soon though, it'll all be on there.
I'm more than happy to put any sounds we get later up onto freesound though, and as i say any other sounds i have!
We also have a mailing list so if anyones sad enough to want to hear from us twice a month then send me your email addy!
