If I were to send someone a sample request, particularly by private message, it would go a great deal towards helping to determine if you can help or not if you give your location as a hometown and a country, E.G Nottingham, England.
Does the freesound community agree?
I am not calling for any action, just for people's oppinions.

I don't agree. In the age of internet use-location matter little. That's my opinion at least.
Your oppinion is apsolutely valled, I just thought that if I sent a sample request to another user via private messaging as I often do, it helps if they give their location so I can determine if it is worth it.

Sticman, you are entitled to your oppinion and of course I appreciate your concerns. However, I don't think that if you give a town and country, you are putting yourself in any real danger. I did so for mine, giving it as you can see as Nottingham, England. Furthermore, as stated in the original poste, if you give your town and country then it would help me or another user determine if you would be able to help or not with a sample request.

if you were (say) a researcher interested in the different styles to cut the hair in (say) in a foreign country, would you try to convince all the people of this country that they take off their hats, just for the sake of *your* convenience?
Does not sound sensible to me, if you are curious about someone haircut - location, whatever - the only valid approach is to ask politely. And let the other person decide if he/she wants to show... or not.

I see exactly what you and everyone else is saying! If I send someone a message, they usualy tell me where they are!
