Hey.
Great offer! I don't need anything now, but one never knows when one might need some in the future. So, you can by all means do so and then I can use them when needed.
Thanks!
Just ask if you need ambient field sounds of this historic city and I'll try to go out and get them.
Thanks for the offer. I have just listened to the mad preacher, oops street preacher file and enjoyed it immensely. What microphone did you use? Is it possible for you to record a genuine east Yorkshire accent using local idioms ?
hi.
I have few friends from Hull, so I'll try and corner them for a few words. I don't actually get out east much.
The mic was actually something of a 'cheapie' It's a Sony micro-stereo lapel clip type. I've tried everything from Shure to Sennheiser but often this little cheerful fella outperforms them. Showing that sometimes it's not always the most expensive kit that works the best.
The preacher - he was a 'gift' of a find. I only wish I could have stayed longer, but I was aware of some fairly high winds which I knew would be picked up on the recording. He and his colleagues are there often, so I'm planning to go out again and hang about a bit longer (weather permitting).
I find street life sounds fascinating and can actually listen to a good stereo recording as if it were abstract music.
My favourite of your samples so far is the modem. Shows us how slow internet used to be, now my internet is a lot faster.
I would appreciate hearing sounds that are unique to that area or region.
Some ideas:
- music from local outdoor festivals or events;
- ambience inside large old buildings;
- large doors in old buildings;
- interesting old machinery;
- parades;
- church bells from a distance out in the countryside;
- any other sound that you think may be unique

Hey, no worries. I can grab a lot of that in a single afternoon. Parades don't happen so often, but was already on my list. Churches? got hundreds of them, including the largest Gothic Cathedral in Europe.I'm on it. Stay tuned.
