Hey Freesounders
I'm making a piece for radio [based on a true story] where one of the characters car gets put on fire by local kids. I've looked hard for the right sound, but the synthesized ones just sound...well, "synthy"; and the field recordings of fires mostly sound like cosy fireplaces or campfires [lots of twigs crackling]. I desperately need what sounds like a parked car burning. Can anybody help?

I can only tell you I'm excited to go hunting for said sound :
"like a parked car burning" and put my H2 to work.
What is your production deadline please and I will strive not to disappoint?

I have just uploaded 2 files under moderation right now which you might find useful called
"burning truck edit" and "for Burning car"
They are NOT field recordings but recordings of incidental sounds from a PC game
Of course I processed them in Adobe Audition3 to smarten them up like
Please let me know / give me a shout back in reply here or leave comments on either sound to give me some sign that you have downloaded them and then I know it was worth my while doing them.

I'm up against it time wise; I have about a week to finish my edit. I'll keep checking your page to see if the sounds you uploaded appear [they're taking ages to moderate right now; I uploaded a new file the other day and it's still just sitting there].

Yes, moderation a bit slow at the moment. I guess many mods on holiday (this is volunteer work we do in our spare time).
Also, have been busy clearing spam in the last few days...

I have pulled your sounds from the queue.
However, sounds extracted from most games will be copyrighted which means we will not be able to allow them in Freesound.
Can you confirm the game and the license status of the sounds?
If the sounds turn out to be OK to accept I will get them into the database as soon as I see your reply.

The game is Sniper Elite v3 in the 5th campaign mission "Siwa".
I have no idea what the license status is how can I find this out ?

I am guessing my 2 sounds will not pass unless Rebellion.co.uk who develop the game are cool about it.
So difficult to source the kind of sound that Maurice_J_K is looking for!
Would sounds recorded off the TV such as news from Syria or Lybia or elsewhere be immediately acceptable that is to say moderated without a problem?

Tv and movies are also copyrighted.

The USA army posts videos on youtube ehich are public domain - those would be OK.
