Hello! I'm right now working on my diploma thesis (theory of design) with the topic: "Urban soundscapes: Traffic-Lights". Now I am looking for samples of those traffic lights from all over the world, to compare them and explore if they might be a distinctive, characteristic factor for cities worldwide.
I searched the samples here and found examples from Okinawa, Edinburgh, Seafield, Vilnius and Seoul. I also searched for pedestrian crossings, zebra, crossroad, traffic lights,... can't find any others.
What I'm looking for: Well, as said before: Sounds of traffic lights, I don't care about file formats, even quality isn't that much a matter (but would be nice) as long one can get an idea of what the sound is like. Direct recordings are fine, but those with the sound just in the background are ok too.
Well, would it be possible for you guys spread over the globe to record an example of those audible traffic lights in your area? Or perhaps you already got something in your library?
Thanks a whole bunch for your help!
That interesting topic, but in my country there's only beep signal for blind people sometimes, and nothing else
check my last ups i found one in working order but very different from others i have heard.
Here is my first contribution to the traffic crossing sounds. I'm in Victoria, BC on the West Coast of Canada. I'm working on another set which will have less cars and other noises clouding up the signal. If I happen to be downtown in the very early (or late) hours I will capture some clear ones.
