Didn't know what other forum to post this in, but I know many of you will be interested. I found out about the project from a mailing list, here's the message I got

The changes in the sounds of the eclipse are not only of interest to sociologists, birders, and naturalists, but will also give the blind and visually impaired an opportunity to experience this rare celestial event.

These recordings will be shared across the world in order to give everyone the opportunity to experience the awe of a total solar eclipse.

I live in the path of totality myself, but not sure yet if I could use their app myself. I'm in their target audience though as I'm blind since birth.

I do not know the answer but here is a recording i have made of an 85% eclipse i have recorded in the Netherlands.

Not really a question, just wanted to let the community know about their project. Thanks for posting this though, very nice. I always enjoy your excellent field recordings. Just a few minutes in yet. Looking forward to putting my webcam out the window and making my own in a month, though it's not going to sound as nice as this. Not many birds sing that late in August, but it'll be interesting to hear what the cicadas do.
