I need a sound for an object (in my case, it will be a golf ball) flying through the air in slow motion for a length of time. I have tried searching for different whooshes and swishes but they are not quite right. Not sure what else to reach for. Has anyone found a sound that could work for this?
Hey there, here's a thought...
You could try taking those samples previously used that didn't work, pitch them down by an octave (-12 semitones) then see if they are more fitting for the image.
It's a common practise in sound effects design to pitch down sounds and blend them with normal speed audio to give is a more realistic timbre. For example, filtered wind noise for high speed slo-mo moving objects.
I hope this helps a bit

Your request kind of inspired me to make something, but it might not be quite what you want (not whistley-enough?). There are 4 separate segments of different lengths and with different amounts of wavering.

and now that I know about the Hanna/Barbera sound effects archive, I can suggest that this superman flying wind noise might be what you want, instead.

Hi,
Check out this pack, and see if anything works for you. The humanatone "nose flute" is great at producing high pitched whistling noises. i'm playing with some processing to make more extended samples.
