I need the sound effect of a falling church bell for a small play I'm helping with. At one point, there is a siege and the bell tower is struck, causing the bell inside to fall to the ground. I've looked a fair bit, on youtube and this site to no avail.
I used a bell sound and tower collapse sound from this website and combined them in Audacity. Should I upload it and give credit to the two original uploaders?
That sounds like a good idea. If you needed the sound, it's likely someone else will, someday. (Also, well done on your first SFX edit!)
You can credit the samples you used in your sound description, and there's an option in the Edit screen to "Edit sound sources" - which will add active links to the original sounds.
(Remember to keep your CC level linked to the originals. For example, if your parent samples were set at CC Attribution, you can set your child sound to CC Attribution or CC Attribution-Non-Commercial. You can't set it to Public Domain.)
Non-commercial is the most restrictive.
