I need a very dry recording so I can overlay it with wind sounds or something that has already been recorded with wind.
I wanna create the atmosphere of being on top of a tall mountain, very windy and there are some voices in the distance about 20-50 meters away from you.
It would be ideal so that you cannot make out the words the people are saying, because it's for a fantasy setting.
No luck so far looking for such samples, but I'm sure they exist (?)
Thank you for any answers or suggestions, even if what tags I should be looking into.
try this

Thank you.
They're perfectly good recordings, but I suppose they've all got too many people in them and are quite noisy, for what I need.
What I want to express is a sort of group of monks/religious people talking, rather slowly, without much clatter and being rather quiet and civil. I know that with so many parameters I should probably try to record it myself .
...or I can check out some monk samples. Yes! Well I clarified this for myself at the very least.
I suspect, one would need to create such a sound.
Some challenges I see, is having unintelligible chatter while sounding "natural/outdoor" without too many people
Frequently, to muffle speech, you'd either EQ it heavily (neighbour upstairs. Or just drown it in a crowd or reverb or something.
Perhaps a foreign language or made-up speech could "muffle" up the sound making it unintelligible while being somewhat natural and clear?
To give distance, one needs reverb question is how much is too much or not enough ?
If I were to make such a sound
Id want a clean 4-7 crowd sample. And a separate "environment" sample, so you could mix the right ratio of crowd and environment you want, add the right reverb on the crowd, maybe EQ it yourself to have the right amount of "mud" / muffled.
