Hello!
I'm trying to produce a game soundtrack with an oriental feel to it and the developers feel taiko drums are an essential ingredient. So, that's what I'm looking for. And then there's the shamisen string instrument which I think quite efficiently creates the atmosphere we're after. Is this an utterly forward request for an obviously commercial project?
Hi there and welcome.
There is user that uploaded a shamisen sound reversed, no longer recognizable. Maybe you can ask him where did he found it.
It would be very nice to get shamisen and taiko extensive sampling pack
Being on a commercial project's credits is good.
Take care.

The "World" sample CD at www.samplefusion.com may have what you want (it seems to at least have shamisen.) It will cost you about $26, though.

sample fusion will give you some nice sounds.
Hmm, I may just go buy that World CD. I need shamisen samples, but I can't find any other ones... I kinda need that pan flute, too, if it's any good (and, as you said, SampleFusion does not usually let us down.)
I'm using 6.0.8 (can't afford to risk my stuff to the beta.) Right now I'm working on a soundtrack and a shorter but also soundtrack-like project. I do all kinds of things (my previous thing was a dub reggae song/tech demo...) FL Studio is soooo versatile; I do almost everything in it...
What kind of music do you work on?
i mainly bust out that deep house sound-being from san fran that's what we dig that deep funky late night early morning suns coming up house sound.
lots of rhodes and lots of congo's. think dubtribe sound system type of stuff.
right now tho I'm doing more slower downtempo stuff with a hip hop vibe (mainly to take a break from the norm.-I have a few loops up here I started in FL but they were parts i could leave out of the songs i was working on so i did. peep them out if you care to (no house loops tho-seems to me most of these people are into trance..but hey maybe i should put some up)
yes fl studio is great. i am surprised how many people DON'T USE IT. I have reason (yawn) and other stuff-only one OTHER THAN FL I like is logic-but even that is like...yeah i guess. to me a lot of it is hype but hey we love what we love i guess.
by the way i'm running the same version. just an amazing thing to work in ain't it?
Well, I'm going to stop writing before we totally hijack this thread and make it into an FL Studio one =P Send me a song if you please, or put it up on Song Exchange...
I'm working on a sound design for a children's play that demands a lot of Taiko, actually. You might try www.taiko.org, that's the San Jose Taiko group. They have some online samples, but the CD is fabulous. I can't much help you with shamisen, though. Best wishes. -- Linza
