I am tempted to drive up to cape canaveral the next time something big goes up and record it...
I just upped a few files that might get you thinking. The first two are unprocessed recordings of a Senn 421 covered with a condom and manipulated under a running tap in a partially full tub. Try this approach. You can vary the "doppler" by the distance to the tap, and the frequency by the depth in the water. I also managed to get some bear-like vocals out of the first example. The second example is to show how it's possible to get that ripping sound as a rocket engine superheats the surrounding air. The last file, "Condom Rocket", is a quick edit/EQ/compression to give you an idea. Try it. If your working to picture, you could drag a monitor into your bathroom and foley it, play it like an instrument! Have fun...
