I'm new to this, but I want some background sound with my Outlook Express messages. mp3's are not compatible, but most other sound files are. My problem is that I want car traffic sounds, and wav files are too large for this application, and midi's typically are just music. Are there files smaller than wavs that I could search for?

if the quality is not crucial you could simply take a wav file and reduce the bit rate and sampling rate. if you took it to 22k/8bit you'd reduce the filesize by a factor of 5.

If you find a file that's too large for you to transfer but it's what you're looking for then post a comment or message the creator directly. I'd figure most folks posting material here have the ability to create files in a variety of formats and kb sizes.

Also, try making it mono if it's a stereo wav file.
