I was after a boring realistic sound effect of a field (eg in a meadow) without too many extras eg no people chatting, dogs barking or birds chirping (the occasional chirp is ok). Anyone know where I can get a sample like this?

insects hoppers? cicada?

there are *so* many of these on freesound it's just crazy. just look for the tag field-recording. I think dobroide uploaded quite some nice ones lately.

Thats what I'm finding hard. A sound effect of a field with nothing in particular standing out. Ie not particularly windy, no particular insects (maybe a few sounds), no people chatting, maybe an occasional bird chirping. Just a bland background noise that sounds like you are standing in a field.

A good example is the sound of a field in a movie. In a movie the sound effect of a meadow is usually balanced without any sound particularly standing out. Ive tried to get a sound effect from a movie but usually there is music over the top or people talking.

From the first scene of passion of the christ is close to what I'm after. From after 50 seconds to 1:30 seconds. Problem is that it has this guy saying unimportant things over the top ( )
