Nice of u to use the same intro from star trek tng!!!
I take copyright infrictions very serious. I can assure you I did not use any samples or scores from "star trek next generation" (or any other existing work for that matter). I only used a sample from RHumphries under cc-licence. If there is a ressemblance with the song you mention, it is purely coincidence.
Besides I looked up the soundtrack (http://www.trekconnection.com/sounds/mp3/) and I hardly distinct any ressemblance to my song, which leaves me to think that you have a vivid imagination or perhaps you care to elaborate your statement?
Cool song to blaze to. I believe they are referring to the note sequence G# D# F# C# which sounds similar to the beginning when the bald guy goes into his "space the final frontier" monologue. I believe it has to be 5 consecutive notes to be a swipe. The tempo is different and the acutal notes may be different. It's the intervals that produce the recognizable pattern. I think we can learn a lesson from this, we are running out of notes. I strongly recomend limiting the use of melody because eventually all possible songs will have been written. Someone already used all the chords up... damn. And what is with the snare drum, it's in every song, give it a break. Use sounds of rotten fruit hitting the wall for percussion... I fear we are running out of original samples and sounds also. Time to find new hobbies. FREE JUSTIN.
that is an interesting discussion NoiseCollector. basically it adds up to: what defines music as art? and should music always be contemplated as art (having intrinsic value)? most people are just not open/ready for music that deviates from what they are used to hear on a daily basis on the radio etc. It's sometimes also easier for musicians/producers to work with limitations (I know that may sound contradictory, but it is true).
this song ( http://www.student.kuleuven.ac.be/~s0174339/mp3/experimental.mp3 ) I made could be labelled as out of the ordinary, but I have yet to receive other comments than "weird", "interesting", "my ears hurt"
experimental is little noisy, but quite interesting... did you use samples from freesound ? how you made that ticks? for me it could be more friendly for the ears ;], coz some frequencies was hearting it.
but keep it up!
PS. about that "star trek": drums are to flat for me, to more plastic, and it can have something more in it, its up to you 2 figer it out what ;]
