Hi there, I'm Aaron Moorhead, the director and editor of an upcoming feature film, A Glaring Emission. I just wanted to let you people at freesound know that I've been making extremely heavy use of your sounds, and it has been absolutely invaluable for making this film happen. Recording all that foley would have taken so much more time and money in renting out a foley stage or driving around to get those sounds I needed. Freesond adds a lot of richness and variety to the soundscape of the film. Although I'm not allowed to show any of the film at this moment, I wanted to thank you all, and let you know that I will, of course, be crediting for each and every sound I used (which is a LOT of them), so thanks in advance!
As something I just thought of, as a filmmaker I can tell you the stuff we need most is footsteps and clothing rustles. If anyone were to make a gigantic, high-quality sound pack of that, they would have my honor forever, and would probably be used pretty widely. We've still had to record a lot of foley for the film (including those things), so they will hopefully make it to Freesound after postproduction wraps.
I will be starting to campaign for a composer soon and will be taking bids through our partner, VersusMedia.com. As I know a lot of you are musicians, you might want to take a glance over there, especially if you want to give an audition for composing!
Thanks, Freesound!
