What Do You Think About Cool Edit Pro?
Is it good for making real music.
From what I've heard, Cool Edit isn't really made to make music but is more of a sound editor. Tell me what type of music you seek doing and I might help you!
Cool Edit *Pro*, now called Adobe Audition is exactly for making music, it is a multitrack recording/mixing program. Basically as many tracks as your computer will allow. "Cool Edit" however is a two-track editor only. I find Adobe Audtion to be an awesome program, and its much easier to use in my opinion than Nuendo or Protools, which I find to be needlessly complicated and has all their menu options hidden in weird places. (I know Protools is very easy to use if you learn or program the shortcut keys, but my brain is already full of conflicting shortcut combinations).
I've also been successful in getting my Behringer motorized mixing surface to talk directly to Adobe Audtition which is hella-fun!
In my exp nothing beats CEP/Audition for cutting loops from raw audio. Early CEP versions lacked the shortcuts for zero-crossing traversal, but current Audition is great for this.
Can't say I've used it for multi-track recording though: using Cubase for that.

Adobe Audition is great. I'm really set with it now. Reached a comfort level so don't wanna shift to anything else unless its really much much better.
I have huge problems with it... but I'm a beginner maybe that's why
You would have a much bigger problem with some of the others if that's the case. Albeit, I have about 25 years of computer and recording experience, but I still have a low tolerance for stupidly laid out computer programs. I simply find Audition easy to understand at first glance and easier to work with in general.

I've used Cool Edit Pro for years now and I love it! Before that I used Cool Edit 96 and Multiquence.
