I made these ^ two beats, using stuff from sfreesound, like snares and stuff!!
let me know what u think!
I liked it but something tickled my ear in an unpleasant way in both songs. I think the songs were kind of out of key. Not necessarily bad, but the notes had something I didn't like, the bass notes didn't fit with the piano ones, etc. The production (sound, EQ etc.) were quite good though. Of course I'm not trying to burden you with musical "laws" or anything, but it sounded awkward to me.
I hear what youre saying simon, but I don't think it sounds that off. Overall I thought his stuff sounds solid. Sounds like he's going for that harder street edge but with a little bit of "shine" to it so it won't sound to gritty but still have a playable sound to it. Sounds used are solid but for sure the tracks are seriously repetitve..but then again its a rap beat and that's to be expected-throw some lyrics over the track and add some drum variation etc-then these beats would stand out.
as I listen to it again the second song-i totally hear what youre saying now simon about the bass and piano notes clashing-he has the bass low in the mix that most probably wouldn't notice-but its there. anyway good stuff man. add some variation to the drum loops and i'll give you a A
