Two of them are these super gongs hits:
Super gong #1:

Super gong #2:

And the other is this super feedback pack:

The song is tentatively titled 'gasp' and you can hear it at one of my myspace sites:
http://www.myspace.com/angrycatandtheanalogillusion
or download it here:

It's in the intermediate stages but the gongs and feedback definitely gave it some extra life.
Plus, anybody feel free to sample any part of this track, there are a bunch of different eastern instruments (erhu, ban di, pipa, etc.) I used.
Thanx freesoundproject and sound makers! I'll post again when it's finished.
gawith
Wow, that sounds really great!
I must say I didn`t know what to expect, when I first saw your post, but now
I can surely say I`m hugely impressed.Can I ask you about the instruments that you used to create this track?
Thanx thanx; do I seem nutty for my overuse of the word 'super' and 'awesome'? If so I don't fault your assumptions.
About the instruments i'm not sure if you mean specifically the instruments themselves or my methodology in making this song so i'll just answer both.
I used a pipa, an erhu, a guqin, a ruan, and a dizi. These are all traditional chinese instruments and an in-depth explanation of each can be found a this wikipedia link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_instruments
In simplest terms,
pipa =lute
ruan = lute/guitar
dizi = flute
erhu = violin
guqin = zither
This song is all made digitally using a DAW, and for these sounds I used a couple different VSTIs. Unfortunately the main ones I use are not free but can be found at:
HOWEVER, Kong Audio does offer a free version of the Erhu and the Dizi and I highly recommend them if these sounds are ever needed. Plus, DSK;
has a free VSTI called 'asian dreamz' that is phenomenal. In the case of Kong Audio I like shelling out money for a worth cause, but the free VSTI options can more than do the job.
Also, DSK has a slew of free VSTIs and plugins for any sound and genre. (I recommend the DSK Brass for any horn sound you might need)
Oh yeah and the part that sounds like grunge guitars is the pipa being ran through an overdrive amp plugin.
Hope this answered your question!
So, I said I was going to bump this thread when I finished, but i'm not that much closer. I did do some work on it though, and also added ANOTHER gong sound I found, so i'm bumping to give that sound creator credit.
The sound in question is a field recording of some gong hits in a temple:
http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=13786
It's barely audible in my track, and I didn't incorporate any of the ambient sounds of the people talking and walking, but it's still a great sound and i'll probably use other parts of it for something else in the future.
The mediamax link above is permanently down, but the track is called 'GASP' and can be heard at my myspace site:
