Hi,
I recently did some work designing the audio for some high speed footage of a match being lit. As the footage was completely mute I had to construct all the audio myself from scratch. The client also wanted a 'bullet time' sort of effect to match the footage being slowed down/sped up, so it wasn't as straight forward as simply recording some sounds and slowing them down.
I recorded several takes of matches being lit using an improvised binaural recording setup, constructed using a matched pair of stereo condensers placed ears-width apart and with a rolled up cushion attached to a mic stand between them to create a 'head shadow'. These recordings were then imported into Logic and Audacity to be manipulated, as well as then being combined with several other sound elements to create the final effect.
On an interesting note, I found that by simply slowing down the sound of the match scraping along the sandpaper I couldn't get a convincing enough (or long enough) scraping sound, so the scraping sound you hear was made by scraping a key along the leatherette case for a set of measuring callipers!
