Hi everyone, this is my latest contribution to SoundShoots; a 90 second piece of music that captivates something about 'underwater' and is also my first attempt at using Ableton live!
I began building the track using a sample from digifish that followed the bubbles of a scuba diver. I then went to my guitar and set about recording some basic mellow loops to go over the top and adding in some simple reverb, chorus, phaser and auto filter effects. The track also contains a couple of midi controlled synths and a basic drum loop using Ableton live's impulse feature. All in all it's a simply constructed track but achieves the effect I was after.
Anayway, please check out the piece (along with the other 'Underwater' submissions) at http://www.soundshoots.com/the_shoots/23/playlist/all/track/381
Thanks
Oliver
ps, you may experience a small amount of distortion on the track if playing the track on a higher frequency setting, this is due to SoundShoots' transcoding of the track from wave to mp3
Hi Benboncan, really pleased that you like the track!
There isn't a longer version unfortunately. I'm also the curator of the SoundShoots site, which is all about giving power to spontaneity as opposed to fully formed, fully polished tracks. It's all about taking a theme and having just a week to create a 90 second bit for it.
I notice by your forum signature that you have a quote about the enjoyment of working to deadlines, so maybe SoundShoots is something you could get some enjoyment out of?!
Give me a shout if you'd like to know more either on here or at my email at oliver@soundshoots.com
