I have a general question conserning drones. Why are they (usually) so dark? Just a question... #curious

I think this is just matter of convention. Many ambient composers (including me) on SoundCloud produced "light drones", too.
By the way, "dark" means "deep", not "sad" or "evil". So maybe composers prefer "dark" sounds because of larger impressions space they can achieve with such sounds.
