Hi Lydia
In theory, yes. As long as you follow the license terms.
Check out this in-depth forum post about licenses
With that said, you should be weary because all sounds are uploaded by individuals and pass through a human-operated moderation stage. The moderators can't be 100% accurate that something isn't taken from somewhere else and re-uploaded, it's impossible to mitigate completely. Although, the moderators do a damn good job at spotting plagiarism and are probably better than computers at it
For most sounds you will find here, it's evident that they're original, for others it's impossible to know for sure, which is why we seek clarification from users when moderating before the sounds are accepted. If you are in doubt, don't use the sound or at least contact the user via private message for clarification, they should be upfront about it.
One way to immediately tell for yourself is to look at the description. If the author has gone into great detail describing the sound then you can be more certain about it's legitimacy. Users who plagiarise tend to not care so much about describing what they've uploaded. We usually attempt to get better descriptions out of users in the moderation stage for confidence.
Finally, if you suspect something that has been uploaded is not legitimate, please get in touch with Freesound and we'll investigate and remove if necessary. https://freesound.org/contact/
Best Wishes
