I've been grumbling about having to get a new 5G phone because of the technology roll outs by the major carriers... So, I bit the bullet and got a Samsung s22+. Pre-installed (as bloatwear) was a voice recorder app.
While the app's default is set to Mono, fiddling with the settings, I reset the record option to stereo. Also, I purchased a waterproof enclosure for it, but didn't realize that the microphone port is covered by a waterproof membrane... The benefit of this? No wind noise when recording out side...!
Now, I know most will say... "Phones have had voice recording capability for a long time..."
To which I say... "Sure, but now, I am creating recordings, in stereo and in the M4a format... Next I am going to get the USB adaptor that allows the use of my Audio Techniques shotgun mike (External microphone adapter...)
Check out this sound from a malfunctioning automatic door...

Hi, bobphoenix. Very great, indeed!
I would suggest you download a Audio Recorder in Play Store, from Dmytro.Ponomarenko: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dimowner.audiorecorder (free, open source, no ads). It supports .wav, then, you can record and share in that format, which uses much more space, but signifies most fidelity, maximum quality.
Keep on! Good luck, friend.
