Hello...Am I legally allowed to compile a bunch of different sounds via freesoundproject for an intro to an album and then place that intro on an album that is available commercially for sale as long as I credit the creator of the work?
I'm surprised more of the legally knowledgeable members of FreeSound didn't jump on this sooner!
As to my knowledge, YES, you can use FreeSound sounds as long as you credit and/or notify of intentional use. But you may want to look at the profiles of people posting sounds. They may post specific requirement, or terms in their profile. That may sound like a lot of work, but you're getting sounds for free.
Commercial use is allowed, with the exception of advertisements. So you can sell a cd with songs on it that have freesounds in them, but the songs cannot be used in a commercial. Except if it's a commercial for the cd or the band itself.
