I'm a hopeful sound designer / composer who's getting to the point that I feel I need to put a decent demo reel together (music in 6 indie video games, and three indie films, and sound design in 4 games and one film). I realize that my first reel won't be of the same caliber of a reel I'll build five years from now, or even one year from now, but that shouldn't deter me from making the best one possible. To do that, I plan on re-designing and re-scoring scenes from public domain commercials, movies, and used-by-(written)-permission animations.
My biggest concern is this: almost everything I've worked on has featured FreeSound.org sounds, and I can 100% guarantee that anything I'll redub right now will heavily feature FreeSound.org sounds as well. I'm not embarrassed by this (the sounds here are amazing!), and I'm still effecting them, cutting them up, syncing them, and all that fun stuff. No, my concern is would it look bad to have a long credits trail at the end of my demo reel, or would it be fine to have a single line at the end that says something along the lines of "for a full list of freesound.org credits, please visit www.davematney.com/creditlist.html?"
Thanks,
Dave Matney
